When Hollywood was looking to cast a criminally minded sidekick in the 1980s and '90s, Joe Pesci was their go-to guy. Born and raised in New Jersey, this Italian-American actor was living in the Sopranos' world even before Tony was. The short, stocky Pesci has made a career out of playing gangsters and tough guys in all forms, from sparring with Robert De Niro in Raging Bull to terrorizing Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone, and even winning an Academy Award for his role in Goodfellas. His success can be credited to the combination of his quick wit and menacing demeanor, not to mention a face that looks like he has seen it all. Though he officially retired from acting in 1999 to pursue music and other pursuits, Pesci still jumps back in the saddle for the occasional role.
