If you only know Betty White from her years as Rose Nylund, the lovable ditz on The Golden Girls, you might be surprised to hear that she was once more famous for playing a character who was snide, petty and downright mean. In the 1970s, White played Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Nivens was the host of the fictional show, The Happy Homemaker, who spent most of her time belittling her co-workers. White was so good at playing a mean character that she was originally cast as saucy Blanche in The Golden Girls.
