The Windsors

Britain's Royal Family

Undoubtedly, Prince William would much rather look back on 2011 as the year in which the world watched his wedding to Kate Middleton. But for William and his brother Harry, the year has also brought them back into the in the phone-hacking scandal. It was a News of the World report on Prince William's knee injury in 2005 — an accident only known to a few people in his inner circle — that prompted the first investigations into the current scandal; Prince Harry's phone was also allegedly hacked in order to intercept a voice mail from his brother about an alleged visit to a strip club. Their father Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall may also have been targeted by the newspaper, and it has been alleged that police officers in the Royal Protection Squad were paid by the paper for private information on the Royal Family.
