Every 45 seconds, a child in Africa dies from malaria. Ray Chambers, 68, the co-founder of the nonprofit group Malaria No More, has devoted his life to changing that. As a board member and global ambassador for Population Services International (PSI), the world's largest distributor of antimalaria mosquito nets, I have encountered heroes working to end this epidemic, and my friend Ray is one of the best. Thanks to the support of groups like his, PSI has just delivered its 120 millionth net, saving more than a million lives and preventing 100 million malaria cases. Ray is now the U.N.'s special envoy for malaria and has pledged to end Africa's malaria deaths by 2015. Don't bet against him.
