The Art Issue
Now, I'm sure this cover isn't loved by the fashion world. Or the art world. Or even the Kim Kardashian world (wherever that world is). But it's most certainly loved by the Barbara Kruger world — of which I'm a proud citizen. Kruger's iconic typography (Futura italic bold) reversed out of red bars is powerfully simple and effective (think New York magazine's Eliot Spitzer "Brain" cover a couple of years back). I just wish Kardashian's and Kruger's names were reversed, 'cause for this cover, Kruger deserves top billing.
