The Tea Party v. the NAACP

While the Tea Party gained some landmark wins during the 2010 midterm elections, it failed to capture the support of members of the NAACP. The civil rights organization came out swinging against the far right in July, filing a resolution condemning racist factions of the emerging political juggernaut. NAACP president Ben Jealous charged that the Tea Party was responsible for promoting bigotry as well as calling Congressmen obscene names. Tea Party leaders weren't fazed, however, with Sarah Palin denouncing the claims as "typical divisive politics" on ABC News.
