Twitter has always been a site with a lot of users and a lot of content but few ways of making money. As part of a new push toward profitability including Twitter's launch of keyword-based "sponsored tweets" in certain sections of its site this year the much neglected Twitter.com site received an overhaul. The goal? To increase the amount of time people spend on Twitter.com and the likelihood that they'll click on a sponsor's message. Early returns were encouraging, although the refreshed Twitter officially remains in beta. We'll leave the final verdict to 2011.
