"Sesame Street will NOT be brought to you by the number 34 or the letter D."
What started as an innocent cameo blew up into a parental scandal and all it took was a green dress. In September, singer Katy Perry visited the set of Sesame Street to record a parody of her song "Hot N Cold," featuring Elmo. Once the clip was posted to YouTube, though, parents reportedly found Perry's costume to be too revealing. Technically speaking, the dress had skin-toned mesh covering her chest, but parents still complained that Perry's cleavage was not G-rated. In response, Sesame Street executives decided not to broadcast the clip on television. Perry's then fiancé, comedian Russell Brand, took to Twitter to joke about the incident, which provided fodder for a Perry sketch spoofing the scandal on Saturday Night Live.
