Converting Homer

Apparently, the Simpsons are Catholic. The Vatican's newspaper has decided that the cartoon world's most famous family is one of its own, quoting a Jesuit priest who apparently studied the show (or a few episodes of it) and found that the Simpsons family "recites prayers together before meals and, in its own way, believes in heaven." This is despite the fact that the Simpsons on the show attend a Protestant church run by a reverend who on past episodes has fought with a priest and openly mocked the Roman Catholic Church. In an Entertainment Weekly interview, Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said, "We've pretty clearly shown that Homer is not Catholic. I really don't think he could go without eating meat on Fridays — for even an hour."
