Modern-Day Can Opener

Can openers date back to the 1820s, but nearly a century after canned foods were first introduced, the Star Can Opener Co. modified William Lyman's patented design from 1870 by adding a second, serrated wheel. Besides the introduction of the electric can opener in 1931, we've used the same basic design since 1925.
