Sony Betamovie BMC-100P

Twenty-four years before the Flip Ultra HD video camera made it big in 2007, the first consumer camcorder made by Sony recorded video onto a Betamax cassette. A cumbersome device that had to rest on your shoulder, it was capable of recording up to 3½ hours of footage. The aptly named Handycam came two years later, thanks to a smaller video format, Video8.
