The King's was famously an indecorous death. On the morning of Aug. 16, 1977, Elvis Presley's then fiancée Ginger Alden reportedly found him next to his toilet unresponsive, lying facedown in a pool of vomit, trousers around his ankles. According to Elvis biographer Peter Guralnick, "It was certainly possible that he had been taken while 'straining a stool.' " Although it was an unglamorous death, Elvis was not alone in meeting his end on such an ignoble throne. England's George II died on the toilet in 1760 from an aortic dissection.
