Hayworth the Huckster

It's unclear whether we're watching a political ad or a late-night infomercial in the first moments of this spot from John McCain. And maybe that's the point. The Arizona Senator pulled a clip from his now-vanquished primary opponent J.D. Hayworth's days as a spokesman for a company whose alleged shady business deals and promises of "free government money" raised plenty of eyebrows. The narrator lobs insult after insult at poor Hayworth, but we think it's the "huckster" charge that really stuck. McCain cruised to an easy victory Arizona's once competitive Republican primary. It's no Shake Weight, but that "too good to be true" infomercial is still a big turnoff.
