The Hallmark Movie

With Depression-era destitution and sudden spiritual reawakenings, there was more than enough drama in the history of Alcoholics Anonymous to make for a TV movie. James Woods played the title role and James Garner portrayed Dr. Bill S. in the 1989 Hallmark Hall of Fame film My Name Is Bill W. Woods won an Emmy for his performance.
