Ian McShane terrorized the Wild West in Deadwood and ruled the dystopian future in NBC's Kings; now he's taking on the 12th century as a scheming bishop in this miniseries adaptation of the Ken Follett medieval power-play story. Starz has a mixed record in original TV (its best effort is the hilarious but little-watched Party Down), but if anyone can make the Dark Ages darker, it's McShane.
