Hank Ketcham created the mischievous Dennis Mitchell character in 1951. The all-American 5½-year-old took great joy in torturing his parents, his pets and his neighbors especially the ever frustrated Mr. Wilson. The comic became so popular that it spawned a live-action television show in the 1960s and an animated show in the '80s. Several film adaptations have also been made. It is now written and drawn by Ketcham's former assistants Marcus Hamilton and Ron Ferdinand and distributed in at least 1,000 newspapers around the world.
