New Year's Eve

There's nothing like Champagne to ring in the New Year. Alcohol may technically not be allowed inside the fabled Times Square celebration zone, but popping a cork or two as the countdown to midnight approaches is such a well-worn New Year's Eve rite that it's practically Pavlovian. Unfortunately, that's one reason the night is one of the biggest holidays for drunk-driving deaths.
