Treebeard

Forget about all the hobbits, Nazgul and elves — the coolest characters in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy are the treelike Ents. And the coolest Ent of all is their elder, Treebeard, who lives in the Forest of Fangorn and eventually leads the Ents in a war against the evil Saruman. (Are you following all of this?). Tolkien's elaborately crafted fictions aside, the idea of a 14-ft.-tall (4.3 m) tree man is so much easier to like than a race of tiny, hairy, big-footed Elijah Woods.
