John Dillinger

Authorities had John Dillinger, one of America's most notorious gangsters, safely locked away before his true crime spree even began. After serving more than eight years behind bars for the attempted robbery of a grocer, Dillinger was released on parole May 10, 1933. It wasn't long before the FBI realized their mistake. Almost immediately, Dillinger robbed a bank in Bluffton, Ohio. For the next year, Dillinger and his gang terrorized the Midwest, killing 10, wounding seven, robbing several banks and staging jail breaks until Dillinger's death in Chicago on July 22, 1934.
