Anna Netrebko

What was your greatest learning experience?
My greatest learning experience came when I was attending conservatory in St. Petersburg. Most of my teachers and peers were telling me that I had a voice that was nice, but not very special. They said that, at best, I would sing in the chorus. However, I enjoyed singing so much that I didn't listen to what these people were telling me. I kept practicing, and because of this I got much better and was able to make a career as an opera singer. This was a very important lesson: always be true to yourself, do what you love, and don't let other people discourage you from following your dreams.
