Tell us about a book or film or work of art that has influenced you.
The Bible. It is a book that inspires me and challenges me. I struggle with some things in it, yet I never fail to find peace during troubled times.
What was your first job? How did it influence you?
I was a candy striper at a hospital and I worked in catalogue returns at Sears. I loved people. As a candy striper I got to make people who were sick smile and laugh. To see a smile would make my day. People who returned items at Sears were generally not happy and it was my job to make them feel that they got someone who listened to what they wanted and responded to their needs. I liked people leaving happier than when they came. Both these jobs served me well as I sit at the table with the women every day. I love making them and the audience laugh.
