Linda Wolfe
Two of Linda Wolfe's husbands turned out to be gay. Two others were homeless. One suitor had the gall to padlock her refrigerator. And still there were others — bartenders, plumbers, musicians, a preacher and even a one-eyed convict — a total of 23 marriages in all. One of her unions lasted only 36 hours because, as she told the Telegraph in 2009, "The love wasn't there." With each walk down the aisle, Wolfe, of Anderson, Ind., was one marriage closer to the title she holds today: the Guinness World Record for being the most-times-married (living) person.
It seems her very first marriage, at age 16, may have been her best. In 1957 a Linda Lou Taylor married 31-year-old George Scott. Lasting seven years, it was her longest marriage. There was another man, Jack Gourley, whom she married three times. She took her last husband, Glynn Wolfe, as part of a publicity stunt. Their vows made Linda his 29th wife, making him the most married person at the time. (He died a year later at age 88.) Though Wolfe hasn't wed in more than a decade, she has said she might not be done yet. From her retirement home, in February 2009 the then 63-year-old Wolfe said she would love to find husband No. 24.
