Among the many parties to participate in Poland's parliamentary elections after decades of communist rule was the Beer Lovers' Party (a/k/a Polska Partia Przyjaciol Piwa, or PPPP). The group actually won 16 seats in 1991. In what sounds like a Simpsons episode, the party soon split into Big Beer and Little Beer factions. One faction, though, eventually turned its sights to more than just yummy, yummy beer, transforming into the less amusing Polish Economic Program (PPG).
