AmEx vs. Courtney

In May 2009, American Express sued Courtney Love for more than $350,000 in charges and unpaid fees on her AmEx Gold card. Filed in U.S. District Court, the suit said Love's charging privileges had been suspended after the Hole singer and Kurt Cobain widow "failed and refused" to make payments. Love filed a countersuit in January 2010, claiming the charges were fraudulent, run up by crooks on a "massive" number of cards AmEx issued in her name without telling her.
