Sarah Steps Down

Sarah Palin's come-from-nowhere resignation from the Alaska governorship in July 2009 sent shock waves through the GOP. But even as supporters debated the still open question of what lay ahead for the party darling, she turned in a memorable — if somewhat rambling — performance in her final speech in office. Explaining her decision to transfer power to then Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell, the former governor quipped, "I know when it's time to pass the ball for victory."
