Sure, preparing meals at home is cheaper, but sometimes it's worth it to pay for the privilege of not cooking and perhaps more importantly, not cleaning up. While dinner is the classic Valentine's Day date, breakfast is much less expensive and can be quite nice. Sit in a booth at your favorite diner or brunch spot and linger longer than you normally would, chatting over a few extra cups of coffee. The other classic romantic meal is breakfast in bed, which sounds wonderful, but actually tends to be messy and impractical. It's difficult to wake up long before your partner to prepare the meal, and you probably don't have one of those trays that they use in fancy hotels. The result is you eat awkwardly hunched over the sheets, with crumbs everywhere. And no one likes crumbs in the bed.
