The Hurt Locker
It was no box-office blockbuster, but this rich, explosive war drama about a U.S. bomb squad in Iraq is predicted to battle it out with Avatar for Oscar's top prize. Kathryn Bigelow, the fourth woman nominated for Best Director, could be the first to win, over her ex-husband James Cameron. Industry analysts have placed some smart money on The Hurt Locker taking Director and Avatar Picture. Or is it the other way around?
