Goliath
When it opened at the beginning of this century, Goliath's 255-ft. (78 m) opening drop was the longest and fastest (85 m.p.h.) in the world. Although the record was eclipsed just a few months later by Millennium Force, this ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, Calif., remains a crowd pleaser. And it's cropped up on TV programs like Zoey 101 and The King of Queens. In the latter, Doug Heffernan (played by Kevin James) very much wants to ride the coaster but gets cold feet after waiting in line for hours. That's something we can all relate to.
