Slate V: The All-Star Celebrity Rant

It's almost hard to believe anyone can be offended by the F word these days. But when a celebrity blows a gasket and the F bombs fly, it can still singe the delicate ears of fans and pundits. Last year, when Christian Bale was filming Terminator: Salvation, director of photography Shane Hurlburt clearly did something to annoy the actor. Bale's brain got switched to overload and, miked for sound, he let out a stream of expletives that would make a sailor blush. Bale said the outburst was an attempt to stay in character. He apologized, but only after the audio tirade ended up on YouTube.

Just days after the sound went viral, the clever folks at Slate V upped the ante. They dusted off other famous celebrity rants: Lily Tomlin's potty mouth on the set of I Heart Huckabees, fighting with bile-spewing director David O. Russell; Chris Berman going into anchor rage on ESPN; and that chestnut from Bill O'Reilly's Inside Edition days, when a miscued teleprompter unleashed his effing wrath. There's even a cameo appearance from Alec Baldwin, whose foul-tempered voice mail to his daughter was leaked in an epic divorce battle. Thanks to cutout animation (think JibJab, or Saddam Hussein from the South Park movie), the ranting celebrities all charge onto the same stage, their screaming heads edited into a perverse point-counterpoint diva diatribe.

The result, as long as you don't mind the language, is effing hilarious.
