Many Facebookers use the site's status-update field to keep friends posted on their activities and whereabouts. But for 19-year-old Rodney Bradford, a status update helped keep him out of jail.
On Oct. 18, the unemployed teenager was arrested for a mugging in Brooklyn that had occurred the night before. Despite his vehement insistence that he wasn't connected to the crime, Bradford sat in jail for nearly two weeks until his father discovered a Facebook status update, made by his son from his Harlem apartment one minute before the mugging occurred 12 miles (19 km) away. The electronic alibi cleared Bradford of the charges. His new status? FACEBOOK KID!
