The Perils of Distance
In this classic 1975 skit, a determined Grover stops at nothing to demonstrate the difference between near and far by running back and forth as fast as he can, bellowing out the terms at each end of a spacious room. The Muppet grows exasperated and exhausted when his viewers need him to repeat the lesson again and again. The premise was simple, but the sketch resonated. Not only did it reappear several times on Sesame Street, but Grover also performed it with Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show in the '70s. The bit was also referenced in a 2009 episode of Scrubs.
