When Michael Crichton died last fall, he left behind two unpublished novels. The first of them to come to light is Pirate Latitudes, set in 1665, a time when England owned Jamaica and Spain very badly wanted to own Jamaica. The island's governor sends a pirate, Edward Hunter, to take down a Spanish galleon loaded with treasure. Film rights have already been snapped up by Steven Spielberg and David Koepp, the team that produced a little movie based on another Crichton novel called Jurassic Park.
