These Interstates Aren't Interstate

Hawaii may be surrounded by thousands of miles of ocean, but that doesn't mean you won't find "interstate" highways, just like on the mainland. It may sound like typical government doublespeak, but from Uncle Sam's perspective, all it really means is the freeways — four in total, beginning with the letter H — are part of the federal highway system and receive federal money. (And yes, Alaska and Puerto Rico have their own interstates as well.)
