"Re: using the "N" word in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it's a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself."
Singer John Mayer's candid attitude toward his personal life has made him a tabloid and Twitter sensation, but his interview with Playboy magazine might have given the public a little more than it could swallow. Along with using the N word in the interview and explaining he hadn't dated any black women by comparing his private parts to a white supremacist, he described his relationship with ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as "sexual napalm" making "napalm definition" the fourth most searched term on Google (No. 5 was "John Mayer Black Women").
Predictably, the loquacious Mayer turned to his Twitter feed to post a lengthy mea culpa, repeating the apology during a Feb. 10 concert in Nashville where he promised to "quit the media game" and return to doing what he initially became famous for: playing guitar.
