There was a four year gap between the first and second Back to the Future's and five when it came to the Ghostbusters sequel. All the main players (Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis) dutifully returned (the film poignantly has them coming out of retirement) to wage war on the slime infested paranormal phenomena. Well, who else you gonna call?

TIME's Take: "But that pileup of "onceagains" finally undoes this sequel. For if writers Ramis and Aykroyd have slightly altered the circumstances of their central figures, they have not bothered to develop their characters any further."
