The Da Vinci Code (2006)

The mop that started it all. Despite charitable blogosphere speculation that Hanks had fallen victim to a sadistic stylist in this inexplicably turgid Ron Howard film of Dan Brown's mega–best seller, Hanks actually inflicted this look upon himself after much careful thought. The actor was going for "fuller in the back and falling down across my forehead," he told Contactmusic.com in 2006. "But the truth is, my hair cannot be long and flowing; genetically, it doesn't do that. It's a bush." If only Hanks had learned from that realization and called it a day. Instead, he said, "I went to these guys who know about hair chemistry and found a way." The ghastly result is cinematic legend.
