The justification
"I reject absolutely any suggestion that I have not used public funds properly since I entered Parliament."
The response
Burnham has subsequently admitted that claiming for the robe was a "genuine oversight." Upon discovery, he paid the money to the House of Commons Fees Office and he wasn't reimbursed.
