Marvin Gaye Finally Gets His

It had been years since Motown superstar Marvin Gaye's last hit. By the time of his 1982 album, Sexual Healing, Gaye had been nominated for Grammy awards several times — with no wins. Not a one. But when the album's title song became a runaway smash hit, Marvin Gaye had his comeback tune. He won two Grammys that night in 1983 (and everyone knew he deserved it — just watch the video and look at that standing ovation). It was just weeks after he had delivered a soulful, extended, astounding performance of the Star-Spangled Banner at the NBA All-Star Game. The league itself called it a "seminal moment in sports history."
