Ok, so you probably don't think of this 90s hip-hop quartet as a particularly prime example of the Motown sound, but, seriously, it's in the title of the song. Signed to the label after the departure of founder Berry Gordy, Boyz II Men still gave their new home a shoutout in this, their first single a hit from their debut album Cooleyhighharmony (what's with the combining words into one big word? Yeahwedon'tknoweither.).
It's fairly difficult as is often the case with music videos of a certain age to watch this without laughing. Salmon blazers and stonewashed jeans? Referee cardigans, white shirts, bowties, shorts and sideways ball caps? Really? Still, Boyz II Men picked up the tradition of Motown boy groups like the Temptations and the Four Tops (witness the matching clothes, the choreographed dance moves, and the sweet harmonies) and ran with it.
