The clash of ideologies rarely has such force or fervor as in this 1983 epic of the French Revolution, which pits Danton (Gerard Depardieu) against Robespierre (Wojciech Pszoniak). Director Andrzej Wajda stages the war of words at hurtling speed and with visual splash.
