Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned

It's men, by and large, who do the ravaging and burning in Wells Tower's stories. But he smelts their anger and lust into something almost beautiful, as when he writes, of a deadly sea cucumber, that "it looked like the turd of someone who'd been eating rubies."
