Why trek for hundreds of miles across one desert when you can do so across four? The Four Deserts ultramarathon (also known as the RacingThePlanet competition), involves a six-day, 150-mile walk across each of the following: the Gobi, the Sahara, and the Atacama in Chile. Only by completing those three can participants take part in the final stage, a walk across Antarctica known as the Last Desert competition. And yes, Antarctica, with negligible annual rainfall, is considered a desert.
This year's remaining schedule is as follows:
Gobi March, June 27
Sahara Race, Oct. 3
The Last Desert, Nov. 17
