"I don't think I should take any sh*t from anybody on that, do you?"
Bill Clinton, whispering to a friend at the end of an interview with Philadelphia's WHYY radio, after being questioned about his comparison of Obama's South Carolina primary victory to Jesse Jackson's primary wins in 1984 and 1988
Bill Clinton struggled with the fallout from his comment about Obama's South Carolina win, which some perceived as racist and belittling. He told WHYY (and other news orgs as well during the campaign) that he felt Obama was "playing the race card" against him. Obama later laughed off the charge (a general one that the McCain campaign also frequently made in the General Election) in an interview with the same radio station, saying, "He's suggesting that somehow I had something to do with it? Ok, well then you better ask him about it."
