Visa's Olympic Tearjerker
You know from the moment that Morgan Freeman's narration kicks in that this one's going to be a doozy. In the 1992 Barcelona Olympics 400 meter semi-final, British runner Derek Redmond snapped a hamstring and was only able to hobble to the finish line with the help of his father. As footage from the event plays, Freeman intones, "He and his father finished dead last. But he and his father finished." Freeze frame on a shot of raw human emotion on Redmond's face. It's almost sacrilege that Morgan has to break the spell by identifying the spot as a Visa ad. Tearjerker of the year.
