Silent Movies
Although many churches now offer sign language interpreters, very few offer actual sign-language preaching. Hence the growth of deaf ministries using YouTube to reach an audience that might not have access to such a ministry in their own neighborhoods. Among those reaching out is Scott Thies, a leader of the deaf ministry at Liberty Baptist Church in Newport Beach, Calif. His clips take on topics as personal as "My Salvation Testimony" and as theologically sticky as "Paul VS Peter," and he offers a vlog. His viewers post comments that touch on hot-button issues (such as homosexuality) current in almost every American Christian community.
