Occupation: Colombian President
Santos is the first Latin American head of state to come out for a more open discussion on drug legalization, a Nixon-in-China move (who better to broach the subject than the President of Colombia?) that could lead the Americas to a saner drug-war approach. Colombia is making a credible bid to be a more developed world player, and much of it has to do with the center-right Santos' demonstration that even conservative Latin leaders can adopt a third-way mix of socialism and capitalism.
