Often called China's Oprah, Hung is one of China's top publishers, microbloggers, TV commentators and tastemakers. Her mother tried to teach English to Chairman Mao, and Hung went to the U.S. to study as a child, later graduating from Vassar. In the late '90s, Hung took over a struggling state-owned women's magazine and turned it into iLook, the mainland's fashion bible. In 2010 she opened Brand New China, a high-end Beijing retail store that showcases made-in-China fashion.
