For humans, hydrogen sulfide, with its telltale odor of rotten eggs, can be fatal if breathed in large quantities, but for the deep-sea community, it's life-sustaining.

In the Antarctic Ocean, researchers have discovered a community of never-before-seen creatures living around the black smoker vents that emerge from the ocean floor
