When it comes to denim, Dutch label G-Star Raw knows how to mix it up. Since the company's creation in 1989, the street-wear brand has gone from creating perfectly tailored classics to fashioning trendy silhouettes that resonate on the catwalks at New York Fashion Week. G-Star's looks are anything but ordinary, and so are its business practices. Devoted to sustainability, G-Star uses raw materials like organic cotton that contains reduced levels of fertilizers and pesticides. The label also goes beyond denim, or even clothing for that matter. G-Star offers a few somewhat random brand extensions, such as their furniture line Prouvé Raw, a Hennessy flask sleeve and the Raw Ferry, a refurbished Amsterdam canal boat that is available for private bookings. Hey, it might seem a little out there, but it's this type of innovation that has helped G-Star hold their place in the competitive denim market for more than 20 years.
