EARL (a.k.a. Enhanced Automated Robotic Launcher), a one-armed bowling robot, reportedly scored a perfect 300 in August last year. But when he went up against Professional Bowlers Association superstar Chris Barnes, he lost and he lost big 259-209, despite the fact that EARL is sickeningly accurate. According to his makers, the United States Bowling Congress, EARL can bowl a ball within a tenth of a mile an hour and a third of a board in the lane. But the consequence of being that precise is that the oil on the lane can wear down and change, which affects EARL's consistency. So in the meantime, all hail man.
